The film traces the life of Golda Meir. For those who do not know her, Golda Meir was an Israeli politician and diplomat, born on May 3, 1898 in Kiev, Ukraine, and died on December 8, 1978 in Jerusalem, Israel. She was Israel's fourth prime minister, from 1969 to 1974, and the first woman to hold that position in the country.

It is the British-American actress, Helen Mirren who put herself in the shoes of Golda Meir in the film distributed by United King Films.
